VADUL-LUI-WOODSTOCK-2008 MUSICAL FESTIVAL TO ATTRACT RECORD-BREAKING NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
Chisinau. The third music festival for peace under the title of Vadul-lui-Woodstock-2008, which will take place on October 10-11, is expected to attract a record-breaking number of participants.
On Tuesday at a news conference in Infotag Representative of the Artcord Association Oleg Negru said that ensembles from the both Dniester banks (Chisinau, Tiraspol, Balti, Bender), as well as foreign musical groups from Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca ((Romania) and Odessa (Ukraine) will participate in this festival.
“The festival will take place at the Vadu-lui-Voda stadium near the bridge over the Dniester River. Those, who wish to stay overnight in this town, will be able to get accommodation for 50 lei per day per person. The travel cost is 10 lei. The admission to the festival actions is free”, Negru said.
Constantin Zilberberg from the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO) said that the Vadul-lui-Woodstock festival pursued the objective to bring residents from the both Dniester banks together irrespective of the language, which they speak, or their formed stereotypes.
The festival jury will hand unique guitars to the best performers as prizes. The festival will be concluded by the execution of the hymn, specially composed for this festival, by all the participants. A fair of non-governmental organizations and various public actions will be conducted in the frame of the festival.
Vadul-lui-Woodstock-2008 (www.festival.md) is conducted by the Artcord Association in cooperation with the CReDO and the Association of Moldova International Movement of Volunteers. The festival will be supported by the USA Embassy to Moldova and the OSCE Mission.
