Chisinau, October 12 (Infotag). The Economic Board working under the Chisinau Mayor’s auspices maintains that the much-spoken 546 land plots were allotted in May 2003 for housing construction on fully legal grounds.

Board Chairman Mr. Tudor Ghelici told a news conference in Infotag Monday that the land distribution procedure and documentation were thoroughly examined recently to reveal that the plots had been issued in conformity with law.

“The numerous allegations that the plots were presented free of charge are not true. The Municipality’s accounting department produced invoices and other documents proving that payments were made for the land obtaining. I should admit that, really, no land auctions were held, because, according to the Municipality’s decision, the plots were distributed among moderate-income citizens”, Tudor Ghelici said.

He explained that the plots were subsequently re-sold to other people, and that “there exist no grounds to claim illegitimacy of land allocation by the Director of the Municipal Department of Architecture and Construction Mr. Vladimir Modirca”.
