PRESIDENT MAIA SANDU FAVORS THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE START OF TALKS ON MOLDOVA'S ACCESSION TO THE EUROPEAN UNION

President Maia Sandu has spoken in favor of holding the first Moldova-EU intergovernmental conference as soon as possible in order to officially start negotiations on Moldova's accession to the European Union. As INFOTAG reports, the president said this at a meeting in Brussels with the President of the European Council Charles Michel.

The head of state wrote on social networks after the meeting that “they discussed the process of Moldova's accession to the EU, regional security and a common vision of a united, stable and prosperous Europe”.

During her visit to Brussels, she also met with Vice-President of the European Commission Vera Jourova, European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources Johannes Hahn, EU Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni and Director General of the Directorate General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert-Jan Koopman.

Also, the Moldovan president discussed the economic development and improvement of the living conditions of the Moldovan citizens with the director-general of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, and the president of the European Investment Bank, Nadia Calviño.
