Chisinau, October 21 (Infotag). The Promo-Lex non-governmental organization has opened a Center of Resources and Development for Transnistria in Cosnita (a village in Transnistria, but under the jurisdiction of the Moldovan authorities). Promo-Lex Chairman Ion Manole said it at a press conference in Infotag on Tuesday.

He remarked the center was set up with financial support on the part of the National Endowment for Democracy and is intended to facilitate the region’s democratization and development process by means of easing the access to information and consolidation of the non-governmental sector; promoting, monitoring and protecting human rights.

The Center will inform national and international authorities, international organizations and mass media of needs and problems, faced by the Transnistrian population. The center will work out and offer recommendations on the consolidation of the civil society and independent press in the region”, Manole said.

According to him, the center plans to arrange round tables and press conferences on democratization and regional security, human rights, It will publish a monthly bulletin on its activities.
