24.01.2007 THE SARY FAMILY AGAINST POLITICIZATION OF MURDER CASE

24.01.2007 THE SARY FAMILY AGAINST POLITICIZATION OF MURDER CASE Chisinau, January 24 (Infotag). The wife and two sons of Peter Sary, a prominent Moldovan businessman murdered in summer 2003, are interested not in politicization of the case but in an objective investigation into the tragedy, the man’s older son, Constantin, stated at a news conference in Infotag today. He expressed surprise about the statement made in public lately by First Deputy General Prosecutor Valeriu Ghurbulea – that MP Vasily Iovv had, allegedly, no relation to the murder. The family is convinced the hasty statement had certain people standing behind it, who are strongly disinterested in an all-out, fair detection of the father’s murder case. “We have submitted to the General Prosecutor's Office new evidences and facts that Mr. Iovv was involved in that crime, but the investigators did not check them thoroughly. Besides parliamentarian Iovv, the investigator did not interrogate other witnesses. Apparently, somebody is strongly seeking to save the MP, and in painting the Sary case in political colors”, believes Yevgeny Sary, the younger son, who is not ruling out that it might be in somebody’s interests to compromise Valeriu Ghurbulea as well. At the news conference, Yevgeny Sary produced new evidences – videocassettes proving Vasily Iovv’s close acquaintance and business relations with the late Peter Sary. On the night of July 23, 2003 the head of the family was found dead near his home in Chisinau. He was the Director of Transconstructsia, a powerful road-building company [currently Asindcons], Chairman of the Oguzbank Board of Directors, and held thick parcels in the Vulcanesti, Comrat and Tomai wine companies. The family suspect MP Vasily Iovv was the one who hired that murder, and are demanding to investigate the case anew.
