THREE PARTIES FORM A VOTING BLOC FOR CUSTOMS UNION

02 octomber, 2014
THREE PARTIES FORM A VOTING BLOC FOR CUSTOMS UNION Three Moldovan Left-wing organizations – the Party of Regions, the Social Democratic Party and the Movement “For Customs Union” – have announced the formation of a voting bloc called “Moldova’s Choice for Customs Union”.

The Party of Regions Chair, Bashkan [Governor] of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal said at a news conference at Infotag today that the bloc is based on 10 fundamental principles.

Among them are: preservation of the bloc after its coming into parliament; denunciation of the Association Agreement with the European Union; federalization of the Republic of Moldova; investigation into the using of foreign grants and credits; struggle against oligarchic groups and family clans; categorical refusal to collaborate in Parliament with the Democratic Party, Liberal Democratic Party and Liberal Party – in whatever form, and other.

Mihail Formuzal said that the bloc is going to do what nobody has ever done: it will sign with each citizen of Moldova an agreement on proper fulfillment of electoral pledges by the bloc, so that voters could thus revoke bloc’s deputies from parliament for inefficiency or negligence in implementing the pledges.

Formuzal said the bloc is open to other Left forces to join it.

“Please let’s get united, Misters Dodon, Mishin, Voronin and other. We must act as one mighty front – all patriotic and state-minded forces that stand for the Moldovan identity”, said the Party of Regions leader.

Mihail Formuzal said the bloc founders have not yet discussed a list of candidates. He is sure that the bloc is able to poll 9% ballots [which is not enough for a bloc of three organizations] “and even 11%” [enough].

“For us, for the advocates of the Customs Union [of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan] over 150 thousand citizens can vote – in the whole of Moldova and even in Chisinau. Everyone needs a guaranteed job, inexpensive energy and a predictable future. Moldovan voters can find all this only in the Customs Union”, stated the Party of Regions leader confidently.
