TRANSNISTRIAN REFUGEES DEMAND VICTOR GURAU TO PROVIDE PROOFS OR APOLOGIZE

24 november, 2014
TRANSNISTRIAN REFUGEES DEMAND VICTOR GURAU TO PROVIDE PROOFS OR APOLOGIZE Transnistrian refugees are demanding Municipal counselor Victor Gurau, member of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) Commission for apartments distribution to war veterans and refugees, to either present proofs for their statements or bring public excuses.

Chairman of the Transnistrian refugees’ movement Anatol Bizgu reminded at the Monday news conference at Infotag that according to Gurau, the Commission came to a conclusion that some of refugees have illegally received apartments, due to the fact that they have drawn up fictitious marriages and divorces.

“We have asked Chairman of the Commission Valeriu Pavlov to give an extract from the minutes of the meeting, but we have been said that the given topic has not been discussed. Besides, they said that Gurau’s statements are his personal point of view. Thus, we are asking Mr. Gurau to publicly present proofs”, said Bizgu.

He prevented that otherwise he will sue against the official with demand to repay moral and material damage, caused to the refugees.

Bizgu said that Gurau by himself has legal proceedings with Chisinau primaria [local executive authority] concerning 3 ha of land, estimated at several million lei, he possesses a basement of 400 sq. meters in Sectorul Botanica of Chisinau, as well as an apartment in Chisinau downtown and a luxury car. The question appears how this person, who calls us cunning, considering himself correct, can put under question the court decision about apartments’ distribution”, wondered the social activist.

He refuted accusations that some of refugees have received two apartments each in houses, built for the refugees and forced migrants.

“No refugee got two apartments. Since 1992, refugees have been temporarily displaced in a dormitory, and when the apartments in new houses were distributed, the family composition has also been taken into account. Thus, some refugees have preserved their rooms in dormitory and, at the same time, got new apartments”, explained Bizgu.

Deputy Chairman of the movement Anatol Ionas called local authorities “before making dig at someone, they should first think how fair they are”.

As Infotag has already reported, in November Transnistrian refugees have conducted a protest action with demand to the Municipal Council to permit them privatize apartments in houses, built specially for refugees and Transnistrian conflict veterans. In summer, the municipal council took decision on this issue, but later it has changed his mind about executing its own decision.
