The administration of the Chisinau Primaria [city government], headed by Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, who has suspended his duties for election campaign period, is actively promoting building of a hotel in the Stefan Cel Mare central park on the territory of cafe “Guguta”, announced at the Wednesday news conference at Infotag municipal counselor Oleg Cernei, who is running as independent candidate for parliamentary elections.

 

According to him, the Finpar Invest Company, belonging to businessman and DP Deputy Chairman Vlad Plahotniuc, “has somehow entered into possession of the cafe and presented to primaria a project plan for permit to build a hotel in park”.

 

“Chisinau Council for Urban Planning and the National Agency for Inspection and Restoration of Monuments gave negative conclusions on building a hotel on the public territory. In these conditions, the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) decided to act differently and prepared a project decision on modification of park boundaries, so that the territory, where cafe “Guguta” is placed, to be excluded from the municipal property”, said Cernei.

 

He noted that the project decision is a closely guarded secret, kept in Dorin Chirtoaca’s office.

 

“Acting City Mayor can not provide even a copy of the decision. The project will be presented on Thursday, November 27, at the CMC meeting for adoption. Bet is made on the fact that everyone is occupied with the election campaign and will not pay much attention to this. The project authors are in a hurry, as they are afraid not to get majority in the Parliament”, considers Cernei.

 

He suspects that Chirtoaca and Plahotniuc are linked somehow.

 

“Over recent years, all the municipal events have been held in “Codru” and “Nobil” hotels, which belong to Plahotniuc. Besides, everyone remembers how several years ago, the City Mayor was against that the islands on the lake in Chisinau park “La Izvor” to be transmitted to Plahotniuc. Back then, Chirtoaca was outraging. Why is he silent now? What is the worst, now the municipality allocates 2.8 million lei to build bridges to these islands”, added the election candidate.

 

According to him, on the territory of cafe “Guguta” of 2 thousand square meters, a 16-floor hotel with a pool will be built.

 

“This pool will be placed 50 meters away from the Alley of Classics and Mihai Eminescu’s monument. Whether it is not a destruction of national values?”, outrages Cernei.

 

Besides, he says that the new hotel will be built just 20 m away from the Parliament building, while “according to the law, foreigners can not be lodged or an underground to be built near state institutions”.

 

“There is no morality or fairness in Moldovan politics. All this show has been directed by Chirtoaca and Plahotniuc. The project cost is estimated at 240 million euros, and everyone promoting it, has a share in this project”, said Cernei.
