Debate Academy project for high school children will start in Chisinau on May 10.

 

Recently, Debate Academy Chairman Emil Chichioi said that the project aims to teach young people the oratorical skills, to conduct discussions and to protect one’s own opinion. The campaign’s slogan is “Say YES to debates!”

 

“The goal of the project is to organize friendly, regional, national competitions, discussion groups, teaching students critical thinking”, said the Chairman.

 

According to him, the project organizers have learned to defend their position with arguments that have a knowledge base from different areas for a more detailed analysis of actual problems in the world.

 

“The training program includes eight courses on a weekly basis for two months. The courses will be willing to train organizers and the invited experts. Then a tournament of two groups “for” and “against” will be organized”, said Vice-President of the Academy Igor Rusu.

 

The organizers noted that in Moldova the debate’s culture is stagnating due to the lack of awareness and effective centralization. Debate clubs are not created in the educational institutions and there are no thematic competitions.

 

Participation and entry in the project is free of charge. The maximum age of the wishing is 20 years.
