The Ravnopraviye [Equal Rights] Socio-Political Movement demands that Balti Mayor Renato Usatii must bring public apologies and refute his earlier untrue statements, otherwise the Movement will sue him in court.

 

At the Friday’s news conference at Infotag, Movement Chairman Valeriu Climenco called untrue the information that US$3 million was allegedly for Orhei Mayor Ilan Shor’s election campaign, the Balti Mayor stated on the TV7 channel on March 7.

 

“Things Usatii said are an attempt to discredit our Movement. Real costs for the entire election campaign are ten-fold lower. We presented the exact figures to the Central Election Commission (CEC). Now, if you listen to Usatii, it turns out that we lied to the CEC and to the entire society. For this, criminal liability is provided – up to three years of imprisonment. And I, as head of the political organization, should be the first to bear responsibility for such actions. But as the Usatii’s statement is untrue, we are forced to convene this press conference and refute the accusations”, he said.

 

According to Climenco, the candidate from Ravnopravie Movement Ilan Shor managed to achieve considerable positive results in the city over half-a-year, while Usatii is only engaged in organizing marches and concerts.

 

“It is Usatii’s envy that pushes him to make such irresponsible provocative statements. If Usatii or any other person wants to accuse Shor of something, let them prove it in court. If they fail to provide proofs, we will make our best that the liar to be punished. We should live according to the country’s law, but not in the way this ‘karaoke fan’ tells us to. This should be stopped. Usatii should be responsible for his words. Many Russia-speaking citizens of Moldova, who believed the Balti Mayor and his party [Partidul Nostru], got disappointed. He is just an idle talker, who did not achieve any serious results, failed to prove he has a potential to bring the country out of the abyss it got into. If Usatii does not change his approach, we will conduct an information campaign and tell the people who he is in reality”, Climenco.
