TRANSNISTRIA VETS COMPLAINING AGAINST PRESSURE PUT ON THEM

TRANSNISTRIA VETS COMPLAINING AGAINST PRESSURE PUT ON THEM Veterans of the 1992 armed conflict on the Dniester are maintaining that certain mass media and law enforcement agencies deliberately blacken them in the public’s eyes and are putting pressure to prevent the veterans’ coming out for actions of protest.

Anatol Bizgu, Chairman of the Movement of Refugees from Transnistria, said at a news conference at Infotag today that information appeared in the media saying that the veterans are allegedly planning to organize protest actions on March 2 – the day when Moldovans commemorate those fallen during the armed conflict on the Dniester.

“The main objective of such mass media is to blacken the public image of the veterans as well as to manipulate the public opinion. As a consequence, the law enforcement began summoning veterans for interrogations. All this is being done not to let the veterans express their discontent with the authorities and come out for protesting and hissing off Parliament Chairman Andrian Candu or Prime Minister Pavel Filip, as it happened on March 2 last year”, said Anatol Bizgu.

He reminded that the authorities have promised veterans to solve their housing problem. But until now they have not fulfilled the court judgment that said veterans have the right to privatize their state-provided dwellings.

“The new Prime Minister Pavel Filip promised to resolve the problems, but did nothing. The authorities come to remember veterans only before March 2, when they give them peanut social allowances”, said the movement leader.
