The Public Association "Positive Initiative" is launching from October 15 to November 30 the National Campaign “Just Test”, during which for the first time in Moldova citizens can get a free express test for HIV. Representatives of the association said on Friday at a press conference at Infotag agency that the tests will be available at the Farmacia Familiei pharmacy chain or delivered to your home.

According to them, the main goals of the campaign are to promote HIV testing and reduce the level of discrimination against HIV-infected people. For this, "unprecedented opportunities have been created to independently, quickly and painlessly find out your HIV status."

Iurie Climasevschi, coordinator of the National Program for the Prevention and Control of HIV / AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections, noted that “today there are about 10 thousand people with HIV on medical records in the Republic of Moldova, of which 7 thousand are undergoing antiretroviral therapy.”

“However, there is another figure based on research - the approximate number of HIV-infected in the republic is 15 thousand people. And our main goal is to identify them all. This is not done for statistics. HIV does not have any clinical symptoms, if there are no concomitant diseases, and the only option in time to identify and start therapy is to do a test,” he said.

General Director of the Association Ruslan Poverg noted that “people with HIV live absolutely normal lives if they find out about the presence of the disease in time and start taking antiretroviral therapy in a timely manner - in this case they live a full life, their loved ones are safe, and children are born healthy”.
