Moldovan businesspeople have received an invitation to take part in The Canton Fair, one of the largest international exhibitions, which is also called “The barometer of China’s international trade”. The exhibition will be held for the 134th time in Guangzhou city from October 15 to November 5.   

Boris Foca, President of the Moldova-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said at a news conference in Infotag on Wednesday that the Canton Import & Export Fair 2023 is China's largest “trade fair of everything - from souvenirs to cars and advanced technological equipment”.

“This legendary event has been held since the spring of 1957 in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. The global exposition brings together an unprecedented number of manufacturers and companies developing new technologies in various industries - up to 52 thousand economic agents. The exposition area of the exhibition exceeds 1.2 million square meters,” he said.

According to the Chamber President, the exhibition has a spring phase, and now it will be an autumn one - one of the most productive.

“There are three stages of the exhibition in autumn. The first one - October 15-19 - electronics and household electrical appliances, transport and spare parts, machinery, equipment and building materials, chemical products. The second - October 23-27 - consumer goods, gifts and home design. The third - October 31 to November 5 - textiles and clothing, shoes, stationery, leisure goods, medicines, medical devices, perfumes, a wide range of products for health and healthy lifestyles. Participation in the Canton Import & Export Fair 2023 is a direct interaction of Moldovan entrepreneurs with Chinese manufacturers of a widest range - from the chemical industry, to manufacturers of building materials, goods for adults and children, decor and much more,” Foca said.

According to him, in autumn (October 26-28), the famous Chinese city of Wuhan will host an exhibition of manufacturers of agricultural machinery and agricultural products.

“This forum is familiar to many business people from the Republic of Moldova. And its specificity lies precisely in what we often consider extremely important - activities without intermediaries, directly with manufacturers. And direct interaction helps keep you money in your wallet,” Foreign capital said.

He spoke of another important event planned for the second half of October - the forthcoming economic mission of Moldova representatives to the Chinese region of Macao.

“We met with the leadership of the Association of Macau Winemakers at one of the forums and were pleased with the openness and invitation of Moldovan representatives to a direct dialogue. In this autonomous region of China, it will be possible to see the organization of retail activities and the wine segment in it, learn the specifics of sommelier activities, visit chains of restaurants, shops and hotels. Argentinean, Portuguese and French wines compete in the local turnover of wine products, but why not include quality wines from the Republic of Moldova? This is quite achievable, and during the mission one can get acquainted with the unique specifics of Macau,” suggests the President of the Moldova-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Unlike the entire territory of the People's Republic of China, there is no customs duty on wine products in the Macau Autonomous Region, which opens up a tangible competitive advantage for winemakers, since in other regions the duty on wine reaches up to 50% its value.

“The listed regions and cities are the ancient history itself. All this can be seen and learned. The Moldova-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be your guide and interpreter in everything. Not only business-useful meetings and negotiations are waiting for you, but also a rich cultural program,” concluded Boris Foca.
