PAS IS UNABLE TO SOLVE MOLDOVA’S PROBLEMS, SO COUNTRY NEEDS NEW LEADERSHIP – VLAD FILAT

The ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) is incapable of solving Moldova’s problems because it creates these very problems. Meanwhile, the country vitally needs to have a leadership that would talk less but work more, Moldova’s former Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the incumbent Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (LDPM), stated at a news conference held in INFOTAG.

“We need a national compromise. Citizens are disoriented. PAS aggravates the political polarization of the society to an unacceptable, dangerous level. Young people are leaving - even those with good salaries. The elderly survive on miserable pensions of two thousand lei a month. Hundreds of schools and hospitals remain without teachers and doctors. Hundreds of populated areas live without youth or children. But PAS continues to divide people into good and bad, into yellow [PAS’ political color] and all the rest, into pro-Europeans and enemies,” Filat said.

According to him, “At the same time, everyone has the same problems - high prices, low salaries and pensions, a shrinking economy, a growing public debt, etc.”

“If these problems are resolved, then there will be no need to leave, and the country will be resurrected. But we cannot get united to solve these problems together,” the politician complained, believing that PAS is preventing the consolidation of the society because “they benefit from disunity, because unity (of citizens) poses a threat to them.”

According to him, PAS is building authoritarianism in the desire to keep citizens “blind, deaf and dumb.”

“It’s hard to believe that all this is happening in the 21st century, in the heart of Europe. PAS is seriously losing the trust of citizens, but continues to retain power at any cost. PAS leaders do not recognize that the loss of public trust means the loss of legitimacy,” he said.

Filat noted that Moldova “needs a country with State-minded leadership, not egoists, specialists in simulation and manipulation.”

“Real politics is a combination of compromises and dialogue. Moldova needs leadership that will stop the internal political war and prevent it from escalating into a civil war. Moldova needs a leadership that would depoliticize state institutions, ensure the implementation of human rights and freedoms, ensure social progress and high standards of living for everyone,” Filat emphasized.
