MOTHERS OF OLEG STOIAN AND SERGHEI SEBASTIAN BELIEVE THAT THEIR SONS HAVE BEEN UNJUSTLY CONVICTED

The mothers of Balti residents Oleg Stoian and Serghei Sebastian believe that their sons have been unjustly convicted and that the Edinet court committed numerous procedural violations during the examination of the cases.

At a press conference at INFOTAG on Monday, Inga Stoian said that "in 2019, the main testimony on her son was given by his former classmate Vladislav Ucrainet, who is sick with schizophrenia and has a head injury from childhood."

"My son immediately reported this detail and also demanded to check the biling of his correspondence with his wife through one of the social networks. From this biling, it could actually be established that he was not physically present at the scene of the murder he was charged with. But the prosecutor in the case, Igor Gherasim, threw away the printed billing. And both statements have disappeared from the case file. Witnesses to the murder claim that the victim was strangled by a stout man of medium height who spoke Moldovan. My son is tall, but he doesn't know the language," Inga Stoian stressed.

Both Inga Stoian and Serghei Sebastian's mother Elena point to the abuses of the police, "who conducted searches more than once and more than twice without witnesses."

"At the same time, they tore the baseboards off the walls, and some of the seized items - phones and money, simply disappeared. In the story of Serghei Sebastian, they initially arrested him and then released him. They came back six months later. They charged him with two robberies, but the case turned out to be only one, and they gave him eight years for it," said Elena Sebastian.

Mothers also drew attention to the fact that their sons have small children. They appealed to the Moldovan authorities and competent bodies to "deal with the criminal cases against their relatives," who were "illegally convicted, including for 25 years in prison."
