UNITED MOLDOVA PARTY CALLS ON PROGRESSIVE POLITICAL FORCES TO UNITE
Chisinau. The United Moldova Party has called on “Moldova’s progressive political forces to unite in order to jointly create conditions for a free and democratic development of the country”.
Speaking at a news conference at the Infotag news agency on Thursday, the chairwoman of the United Moldova Party, Anna Tcaci, said that Moldova is facing a serious social and economic crisis.
“Import exceeds export threefold, the agricultural sector is on the edge of bankruptcy, while the small and medium sized business cannot develop. If the authorities do not take urgent measures to improve the situation, then Moldova may face a humanitarian catastrophe,” Tcaci said.
She called for the creation of a national salvation committee that would bring together representatives of all political forces.
“Political parties should leave behind doctrine differences and ambitions and unite on the basis of the national idea of public unity in order to work out efficient programmes on how Moldova should overcome the current difficult social and economic situation and prevent Moldova’s disappearance as a state”, Tcaci said.
The United Moldova is ready to cooperate within the national salvation committee with all political forces that want to turn Moldova into a European state. Tcaci considers the Moldovan Liberal Democratic Party as one of such forces "with definite goals and great prospects".
"This does not mean that we do not want to unite with the Liberal Democratic Party, but we plan to participate in the 2009 parliamentary election in Moldova independently", Tcaci said.
Infotag note: United Moldova was registered in February 2008 on the basis of the Woman Movement of Moldova. The party has 7,000 members.
