MOLDOVAN ATHLETE WINS WORLD KICKBOXING CHAMPIONSHIP
Chisinau. Moldovan athlete Oleg Hohlov has won the Kickboxing’2008 ISKA World championship.
President of the National Muai-Thai and Kickboxing Federation Vitalie Ciobanu remarked at a news conference in Infotag on Monday that 700 athletes from 45 countries participate in the championship in Olomoutz the Czech Republic and they conducted more than 1 thousand fights.
Hohlov was the only representative of Moldova at this championship. He won four fights. In the final his competitor was the Polish Champion. Our athlete won this fight after the second round by sending his rival in a knockout. The hardest for him was the semi-finale, which won with a minimal difference in one point.
Cebanu made no comment on the financial relations between the athlete and the federation, but promised that the athlete will receive an award as the Champion deserves.
In Coach Ivan Dergaccenco’s words, in the near time Hohlov will participate in the Professional Championship in the Low-kick category, which will take place in Tiraspol.
“The choice of Tiraspol is connected with the fact that the Official Moldova have not estimated Hohlov neither financially, nor with titles, but Transnistria conferred a master title on him and is going to give him an apartment”, Dercacenco said.
Oleg Hohlov is Moldova’s Kickboxing and Muai-Thai (Thai Box) Champion in 2005-2007, he was the winner of the silver medal in the WPKA Kickboxing in 2004, and he was the winner of the Ukraine Kickboxing Cup in 2007, the winner of the Odessa Kickboxing Championship in the 71-75-kg category (that time there were four representatives of Moldova). Hohlov is a student of the law faculty of the Balti University.
