14.07.2003 GUSTAV-STRESEMANN INSTITUTE LAUNCHES NEW NGO DEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN MOLDOVA (NEWS CONFERENCE IN INFOTAG)

Chisinau, July 14 (Infotag). The International Society of Human Rights (ISHR) in conjunction with the Gustav-Stresemann Institute are going to start in Moldova a new project aiming to stimulate the development of local NGO sector.

Speaking on Monday at the press conference held within the quarters of the Infotag News Agency, leader of Moldovan ISHR section Liubov Nemcinova advised the project is going to be initiated within a frame of TACIS program for partnership in institutional development and sponsored by the European Union.

The implementation of the project will last 18 months starting from January 2003.

Speaking on behalf of the Gustav-Stresemann Institute, Andreas Bieschke emphasized that the project itself will include several stages. During the first one, representatives of 20 local NGOs will undergo training in Germany. During the second, they will themselves teach their colleagues under the program called ‘Consolidation of management structure and improvement of managing skills in Moldovan NGOs’.

The third stage will include putting on Internet a web site to be used by all NGO workers in order to get useful information. Within the final stage there will be held series of seminars during which the participants will be invited to share their experience.

According to Bieschke, among the topics discussed at the seminars there will be: Establishing of Local and International Contacts; The Role of Marketing and Public Relations; NGO Internal Structure; NGO Fund Raising; and Project Implementation Methods. The overall number of participants in this project is expected to be around 200 representing 2500 local non-government organizations.
