Chisinau, February 7 (Infotag). The GenderDoc-M Information Center will once again apply for the Chisinau Municipality’s official permission to hold a meeting of sexual minorities in front of the Moldovan Parliament building.

Center chairman Alexei Marchkov told a news conference in Infotag today, last year the organization applied for such permission, but the application was declined, and GenderDoc-M challenged the refusal in court.

“We won that first trial, but the Municipality challenged that judgment with a higher judicial instance. The case will soon be examined by the Supreme Court, and we do hope justice will be on our side again. We would like very much to receive permission to organize our traditional annual parade of minorities this coming May in a way that we can approach the Parliament building and hand in a bill on sexual minorities to deputies”, Marchkov said.

GenderDoc-M has already won two trials on facts of discrimination of minorities, with yet 7 more applications pending.

“Regretfully, the biggest pressure is put on us by the law-enforcement. We all live in a democratic country, and the only thing we dream about is to be perceived and treated by the society the way we are”, said Alexei Marchkov.

In his words, the Center has 24 persons on its register. However, 400 to 500 unregistered gays and lesbians visit it every year.
