08.11.2006 FAMILY OF KILLED BUSINESSMAN PETR SARA REQUESTS PRESIDENT’S PROTECTION

Chisinau, November 8 (Infotag). The widow and sons of businessman Petr Sara, who was killed three years ago, do not agree with the verdict of the Court of Appeal and intend to fight for the honor of their father and security of the family. On Wednesday at a press conference in Infotag they read their appeal to Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin, where they request to protect them from Parliamentarian Vasile Iovv’s unlawfulness.

Petr Sara’s son - Constantin – accused Iovv of the fact that it was he who proposed to conclude a contract on the Kiev-Odessa highway construction with certain Bolotin in 2003. Sari asserts, though all the works were completed in time, they have not been paid for until now.

“On the contrary, we are being constantly intimidated and forced to hush up this matter. Despite our losses worth almost $500 thousand, our enterprise is constantly inspected by technical and fiscal bodies, General Prosecutor’s office and the Ministry of Interior”, he said. Petr Sara’s widow – Evghenia – considers that the main reason for her husband’s murder was the fact that he possessed a considerable volume of information, including about Parliamentarian Vasile Iovv and he tried to bring this truth to notice of Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin.

“However, Petr Grigorievici was not admitted deliberately to the President. It allow us to suggest that it was Vasile Iovv, who ordered the murder. We have already informed the General Prosecutor’s office of out suspicions”, Evghenia said.

At the press conference the sons of the killed businessman unveiled a lot of facts, in their opinion, illegal machinations and appropriation of property, where Vasile Iovv’s traces could be revealed. They accused him of the abuse of his powers for applying pressure to state governance bodies. Sara’s family requested Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin to protect them from unlawfulness on the part of Parliamentarian Iovv.

Infotag tried to get in contact with Parliamentarian Vasile Iovv in order to hear his commentary on the above accusations, but it was only cleared out that he is currently on trip abroad and will return only on November 13.
