Chisinau, November 14 (Infotag). Moldovan companies of Acorex Wine Holding, Chateau Vartely, Dionysos Mereni, DK Intertrade, Vinaria Purcari and Vinaria Bostavan will represent their products in Sacramento (California, US).

Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AMCHAM Moldova), John Maxemchuk, told a news conference in Infotag that each of these companies will exhibit 5-10 wine varieties.

At the presentation ceremony, the public will receive information about Moldova, the history and traditions of its wine industry, and about each of the enterprises concerned. The event will gather some 20 major American importers and vintners, who will thus get a possibility to sign contracts directly with the Moldovan wine companies.

According to John Maxemchuk, that was exactly how winemakers from Chile, South Africa and Argentine began promoting their wines onto the American market. Competition in the United States is very tough, but, at the same time, the market is fully open, so everyone has a chance to win it, he stressed.

Mr. Maxemchuk pointed out that Moldovan wines are of high quality and meet the Americans’ tastes. He also said that the Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzeneger, had been invited to the wine presentation in Sacramento.

So far, wine supplies to the United States constitute merely 1.1% of Moldova’s total wine exports. Wines available at the local market at prices of some US$1.5 a bottle are sold in the U.S.A. for US$6-7.

AMCHAM Moldova foundation documents were signed in Chisinau on March 27, 2006, when the new facility thus joined a network of over a hundred local AMCHAM offices in 91 countries, and Moldova became the 105th. Like other 104 AMCHAM offices around the world, the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova is a non-governmental association of private businesses and business people. The stated goal of AMCHAM Moldova is to promote American trade and investment in Moldova and to work with Moldovan Government and business leaders to foster a more favorable foreign trade and investment environment.
