Chisinau, October 21 (Infotag). The Party of Social Democracy of Moldova (PDSM) has set up its women’s and youth organizations, which were headed by Ion Lisa and Ecaterina Mardarovici.

Party Leader Dumitru Braghis said at a press conference in Infotag on Tuesday that they became simultaneously Vice-Chairpersons of the PSDM Leader. Mardarovici remarked women will constitute 30% of the candidates on the PSDM electoral slates for the upcoming local elections in 2007.

“We shall struggle for observing women’s rights in Moldova, we shall conduct a campaign under the motto “The Health of Our Soldiers is the Health of Our Children”, she said.

According to Mardarovici, in the course of this action women will knit about 1,000 pairs of warm socks, which will be distributed among servicemen of the National Army soldiers on the eve of the Christmas holidays.

Ion Lisa said that the main objective of the PSDM’s youth policy is to create and to strengthen legal, economic and organizational conditions for the manifestation of young generation.

He remarked the youth wing of the party will conduct a campaign under the motto «Help Poor Children in the Village!».

“The activists of the organization will visit Chisinau citizens and collect unnecessary clothes and footwear, which they pass to the poorest village children, who cannot go to school”, - Lisa said.

According to him, the lists of those in need of such assistance are being made up now.
