Chisinau, December 19 (Infotag). The National Union of Independence War Veterans (NUIWV), The Movement of Transnistrian Refugees (MTR) and the Transnistria Association of Culture and Law have condemned the Chisinau Municipality’s decision on the reorganization of the municipal TV and radio Antena C and Euro-TV-Chişinău.

The NGOs’ joint statement, unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday, remarks this decision was taken without taking into consideration the interests of radio listeners and TV watchers, as well as the interests of the collectives of these mass media.

“We demand to cancel the approved decision and to set up a commission, which must study the situation and propose a democratic method of reorganizing the municipal TV and radio”, the document says.

NUIWV Chairman Eduard Maican said that the scandal with the municipal mass media testifies to the deterioration of the situation in the society. He is indignant that the authorities ignore the public opinion and act at their own discretion.

MTR Chairman Anatolie Bizgu said the Antena-C radio and the Euro-TV-Chişinău channel were always with people and their problems and demonstrated themselves as true public mass media. In his opinion, census is introduced at the municipal radio and TV.

“We speak about our movement towards Europe, that we are building a democratic society, but in the reality the developments are quite different”, Bizgu considers.
