ASSOCIATION OF ENERGY SECTOR EMPLOYERS APPEARED IN MOLDOVA

On the initiative of the Heating electric power plants #1 and #2 [CET-1 and CET-2] in Chisinau, Gas Natural Fenosa and Solartech Energy the first Association of Energy Sector Employers has been created.

Its Director Executive Alexandrina Robu said at the Thursday press conference at Infotag that the Association is non-governmental, apolitical, non-commercial and independent, created with the purpose to promote the unified position of the market participants concerning national and international bodies.

According to her, among the Association’s priorities are: attracting foreign investments for modernization of the energy sector, support for implementation of the third energy package, use of all the country’s possibilities in the field of renewable energy sources, ensuring energy security, liberalization of energy sector, promoting industrial, economic and scientific-technical relations among members of the association.

“We are also proposing a more active use of solar, wind and biomass energy”, said Robu.

Association is national partner of the Eurelectric Union (EU) and in this context, the Director General of the Verbund Company (Romania) Teodor Ovidiu Pop read the congratulatory message from the Eurelectric leadership, which said that creation of a new association means regular exchange of views between members of the Association, other interested sides and European partners.

Also, in the message the Eurelectric Union expressed its readiness to provide assistance to the association, in order that the latter to achieve its goals.

Chairman of the Gas Natural Fenosa Silvia Radu said that members of the Association are ready to represent interests of both the energy sector and of the consumers, and the emphasis will be placed on reducing energy consumption.

“Unfortunately, we have to say that energy efficiency in Moldova is insufficiently developed. Both individuals and legal entities are consuming more energy than they could have consumed. Thus, one of the tasks we set for ourselves is saving of electricity. One more target concerns familiarization of consumer with renewable energy sources and implementation of new technologies in this field”, said she.

Franck le Borgne, Director of the Solartech Energy, said that in conditions when Moldova is importing over 90 of energy resources, the use of renewable sources is a good alternative.

“Currently, these make a small percent from the total energy, consumed in the country. But to move on, we need answer to the question “When Moldova will have a good legislation, so that we can propose to citizens possibility to use renewable energy sources already tomorrow?”, said he.

According to the Solartech Energy Director, the development of renewable energy sources demands great efforts.

“In order to get results, time and investments are necessary, but if we do this too late, the results will also appear late. We hope that in the coming months politicians will understand that this sector is a very important one for Moldova”, said Franck le Borne.
