TRANSNISTRIAN REFUGEES TO CONTINUE DEFENDING THEIR RIGHTS

10 december, 2014
TRANSNISTRIAN REFUGEES TO CONTINUE DEFENDING THEIR RIGHTS On the World Human Rights Day – December 10, the Transnistrian refugees said they will continue fighting for their rights and called the rest of citizens to follow their example.

At the Wednesday news conference at Infotag, Chairman of the Transnistrian refugees’ movement said that Chisinau authorities keep violating rights of veterans, war invalids and Transnistrian refugees, ignoring court decisions and contributing to corruption growth.

“Authorities will never understand what we have been through. During the 1992 Transnistrian conflict, we were on the side of constitutional forces, which are now fighting against us. Soon we will be called not pro-Russian of pro-Socialistic, but terrorists”, considers he.

According to him, it is unacceptable that the court decisions to be ignored in a state of law.

“We achieved victory not only in national court institutions, but also in the European Court of Human Rights. However, authorities do not take this into account. In Chisinau Primaria [city government] the corruption is rampant”. For each decision you have to pay. We said we will not pay a coin. We will not give up and will continue fighting for our rights in a legal way”, said Bizgu, underlining that it is very difficult to fight against corrupted and mafia-like system.

Chairman of the movement says that he owns a list of primaria officials, who over recent years have taken possession of property, not mentioned in declarations on income.

“We intend to publish this list, however police is already calling me and strongly asking me to provide proofs and name the information sources. I have been blackmailed by starting a criminal case. Thus I decided to postpone disclosure of these officials’ names until everything calms. However, we will extend the list and nevertheless will publish it”, said Bizgu.

He expressed regret that international institutions are providing money to some organizations in Moldova, which are combating corruption or protecting human rights only in words.

“We possess information that through these organizations money are laundered. We have never been financed by no one, while all the funds we have, are due to membership fees. Monthly incomes are around several thousands lei”, said Bizgu.

As Infotag has already reported, in November Transnistrian refugees had occupied the Chisinau City Hall, demanding from the Municipal Council to allow them privatization of apartments, built specially for refugees and Transnistrian conflict veterans. Earlier, the Council has taken the corresponding decision, but refuses to fulfill it. A special commission has been established within the Council, which should analyze refugees’ documents and decide what to do further.
