28 may, 2015
AGEPI LAUNCHES NATIONAL PATENT LANDSCAPE The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) launched a unique application - “The National Patent Landscape” on patents, inventions and inventors, registered at the national and international scale.

AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan said during Thursday’s news conference at Infotag that the information about patents represents separate category of technical scientific information with an unconditional importance for the country’s economical development.

“By means of developing the application we tried to ensure the access of everyone to a more detailed information about patents, inventions and inventors, as well as about the degree of protection of the invention abroad”, she said.

The monitoring of patents is an efficient way to avoid the duplication of researches and developments, because 30% of costs are usually wasted on already existing innovations.

Expert of the AGEPI Department for inventions and plant varieties Tudor Jovmir said that the National Patent Landscape includes 9 so-called cells: aggregate data; filling application for a patent; issuing of patents; maintenance of patents in force; women-inventors; patent profile; process of patenting abroad; analysis of the cited patents and activity of patent agents.

“The application can be found on the AGEPI official website, it is free-of-charge, automatically generates new data, has an online control system and is accessible in three languages – Romanian, English and Russian. Currently, in Moldova there are registered 4536 inventors, 1708 national and 429 foreign patent holders”, he said.

The application was developed by AGEPI Informatics Department Chief for programming and database Nicolai Dimov. International and regional organizations – the World Intellectual Property Organization and the European Patent Office, have similar platform, which includes statistical data and analysis of patents for inventions and information on patents at the international level.

Infotag’s dossier: The AGEPI was established in 2004 by means of merger of the State agency for industrial property protection and the State agency for copyright and represents their successor. It is a specialized state body, enforced to carry out the protection of objects of intellectual property, relating to industrial property, copyright and other related rights.
