 MOLDOVA TO HOST MARTIAL ARTS FESTIVAL A Mixed Martial Arts Festival will for the first time be held in Moldova within the period of November 18 to 22, where 800 fighters from 100 countries will participate.

 

Representative of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation Victor Popescu said that initially the forum was planned to be conducted in Ukraine, but due to difficult situation in this country, the right to host the prestigious competition fell to Moldova.

 

“We are very pleased with this opportunity and we started the organization of the Festival with enthusiasm. Its peculiarity lays in the fact that during the 4-day fest, the European Championship of Combat Jiu-Jitsu will also take place, as well as demonstration performances of world-known fighters”, he said.

 

“Besides adult athletes, we are expecting the coming of children-athletes. Namely for them the competition will be conducted in the format of a festival”, he said.

 

Chairman of “Alfa” sambo [unarmed combat] club Andrei Andreas said that the Festival in Chisinau is aimed also to demonstrate that mixed martial arts are not just fighting, but a way of physical and moral self-perfection.
