SURVEY: CURRENT AND FORMER PRESIDENTS REMAIN LEADERS AMONG POLITICIANS IN THE RATING OF CITIZENS’ TRUST

The current and former presidents - Maia Sandu and Igor Dodon - remain the leaders among politicians in the rating of citizens’ trust. This is evidenced by the data of the Vox Populi poll for January 2021, conducted by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers and presented on Tuesday in the Infotag agency.

According to the survey, Maia Sandu is trusted by 26.9% of respondents, the current chairman of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) - 23.5%. This is followed by: the chairman of the Shor Party Ilan Shor (6.1%), the general mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban (5.8%), the chairman of Our Party, the mayor of Balti Renato Usatii (4.2%).

The leader of the Platform DA, Andrei Nastase, and the former chairman of the PSRM, Palriament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii are trusted by 2% of the respondents, the chairman of the Democratic Party Pavel Filip - 1.7%, the chairman of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin - 1.5%, the governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah - 0.9% and the former Premier Ion Chicu - 0.5%.

At the same time, 13.7% of respondents do not trust any of the politicians, and 9.9% found it difficult to answer the question.

Also, 70.8% of the survey participants believe that Moldova is moving in the wrong direction, 23.7% think differently. More than half of the respondents (51.9%) consider the reforms carried out in the country to be not entirely effective or not at all effective. Another 38.9% consider the reforms to be more or less effective, and 6.1% - very effective.

The survey was conducted on January 8-23 with the participation of 1,153 people from 87 settlements of the republic, with the exception of the Transnistrian region. The margin of error is 3%.
