SOCIETY OF HUNTERS AND FISHERS DEMANDS AUTHORITIES TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO OPEN HUNTING SEASON

The society of hunters and fishermen is outraged by the indifference of the Ministry of the Environment to the aspirations of members of one of the largest public organizations of the Republic of Moldova and demands to approve the limits on the production of wild animals as soon as possible in order to finally open the hunting season 2021-2022, even if only with a two-month delay.

The chairman of the Society, Oleg Ciocoi, said on Tuesday at a press conference at the Infotag news agency that the new law on hunting and the hunting fund was adopted three years ago, but still cannot be implemented due to the delay in creating an accompanying regulatory framework by those responsible departments.

“A month ago the government approved the hunting rules, but they have not yet been published in the Official Gazette and have not come into force. And the sectoral ministry of the environment did not bother to set production limits,” he stated indignantly.

The vice-chairman of the Society, Andrei Munteanu, also noted that the suspension of hunting “also brings some harm: the ecological balance is upset, the number of predators (jackals, foxes) is growing, causing great damage to peasants, as they destroy poultry and livestock.”

Thus, the society demanded that the authorities take urgent measures to ensure the legal rights of a detachment of thousands of Moldovan hunters. It insists “on bringing to justice those responsible for deliberately delaying (sabotaging) the adoption of bylaws that led to problems in opening the hunting season” and warns that if their demands are ignored, it is ready to take adequate measures.
