ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION BRINGS LIFE TO TERMINALLY ILL PATIENTS IN NEED
The problem of internal organ transplantation and donation should be in the focus of constant attention of the media, representatives of the Romanian Kidney Transplant Association “Liver Trans” (www.transplantdeficat.ro), which helps incurably ill patients, said at a press conference at the INFOTAG agency on Wednesday.

The motto of the Association is “Donation of organs means YES to life!”. Dozens of people came to the conference whose lives were extended only through organ transplantation. Among them were patients who successfully underwent organ transplantations 5, 10 and even 23 years ago.

“What is this if not the best proof that it is necessary to use transplantation as widely as possible, saving the lives of terminally ill people,” said Romanian professor Vlad Brasoveanu, who performed organ transplantations in Chisinau.

He greeted all healthy people on the right and left banks of the Prut, saying that organ transplantation must be promoted in the media, reducing the mortality rate of patients waiting for an organ from a donor.

“Having the topic of organ transplantation in the field of view of the press will increase the number of donors. We have noticed that during our campaigns to inform the population about the importance of transplantation, the number of donors increases significantly. I believe that such an information campaign in the society should be constant,” the professor said.

Participants in the press conference noted that in Romania more than 500 patients are waiting for organ transplants, and in the Republic of Moldova there is a waiting list of 80 people.

“The more donors in society who are ready to donate their healthy organ, the faster the queue of patients waiting for healthy organs will shrink,” the conference participants emphasized.
