The League of Cities and Villages (Liga Oraselor si Comunelor, LOC) party nominated more than a thousand candidates for the positions of mayors and councilors in the local elections to be held on November 5, one of the LOC leaders, Alexandru Bujorean, announced at a news conference held at INFOTAG on Tuesday.

According to him, LOC candidates have been registered in 11 regions of the country.

Bujorean expressed regret that this year’s election campaign is characterized by false information, slanderous statements, outright lies, political and other pressure on early election runners.

“This campaign has everything - gross violations by individual competitors, statements by certain “undercover agents”, accusations of LOC receiving dirty money, initiation of criminal cases, an attempt to ‘pin’ the party with a connection with fugitive oligarch Ilan Sor. We reject all this and declare that we intend to fight for the introduction of democratic principles and professional management in our cities and villages. LOC is committed to bringing experienced administrators and well-trained professionals to leadership positions in local governments,” he said.

The politician emphasized that “slanderous statements by the representative of one of the pro-European parties addressed to LOC will not be left without consequences.

“We filed a complaint with the Police Inspectorate of the Sectorul Centru of Chisinau and the General Prosecutor's Office. We call for a review of our party's funding and are open to cooperation. Those who made false statements must be held accountable,” he stressed.
 
The politician presented the LOC candidates for Chisinau Municipal Council [city legislature] - Irina Lunga and Leonid Ogarev.

LOC Co-chairman Anatolie Dimitriu believes that “the new composition of the Chisinau Municipal Council should subject to verification the Urban Development Plan of Chisinau, which was violated over recent years.”
