22.12.2005 GERMANY TO HELP IALOVENI WOMEN AND CHILDREN

Chisinau, December 22 (Infotag). Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ, the German Technical Cooperation Bureau) will embark on its new project of improving Moldovan women’s and children’s social conditions next year – this time in the Ialoveni raion (near Chisinau), it was said at a news conference held in Infotag today by the representatives of the GTZ and the Embassy of Germany to Moldova.

GTZ Manager Aurica Crozu said this project will be a follow-up to an analogous project accomplished recently in the Costesti Village (Riscani raion), and its main objective is to render psychological and social assistance to human trafficking victims – by means of special training sessions, seminars, etc. that would help the people find their proper place in life. The Costesti project was a success. Over 450 locals took part in its 34 major events.

The Ialoveni project will be working 2 years, with a possible extension. In its frame, children’s centers will be set up in 4 villages in that raion.

Mr. Dieter Langbien of the German Embassy’s Legal and Consular Department said the success of the first project inspired its organizers for continuing the work in order to help women and children in this republic to improve their social condition.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit was founded in 1975 by the Government of Germany. Presently, GTZ is implementing 2.7 thousand projects in 131 countries of the world, including 6 in Moldova where the Bureau has been working since 1994.
