29.06.2006 UNIVERSITY OF HUMANITIES COMPLAINING OF GOVERNMENT’S OPPRESSIONS

Chisinau, June 29 (Infotag). The management of the University of Humanities of Moldova considers the government is depriving the university unlawfully of its building and park.

Rector Lydia Daucste has said at a press conference on Thursday that beginning from 1996 the university acquired a building in and a 3 hectare park in the Grenoble Street for MDL 1.65 million.

The sale-purchase agreement was made up with the mediation of the Ministry of Privatization and State Property Administration. Since that time we made investments at million of lei into the building repair, the purchase of necessary facilities, we paid taxes and did not delayed salaries for our employees, she said.

According to Daukste, in 2003 Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports deprived the university of the license and declared that the building was in a state of wreck. Soon the government declared the building and the plot to be a state property and transferred them to the Chisinau office of the National Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre.

The state of the university is better than that of some blocks of the state university. We recurred to the court, but the process continues for the third year. And on June 27 the police commissariat representatives headed by Piotr Cordoneanu ordered us to vacate the building without producing any court decision and in the absence of a bailiff, she said.

Daukste remarked that the university is to receive its money back in accordance with the government’s decision but is has not been made for the time being.

Neither government, nor other responsible institutions try to have honest talks with us. That is why, we have to request international organizations to help us, she said.
