Chisinau, April 2 (Infotag). The Social Liberal Party has designated 35-aged SLP Deputy Chairman, Graduate of the Academy of Economic Knowledge of Moldova and the Bucharest Political School Cornel Ciurea as Candidate for the post of the Chisinau General Mayor.

On Monday at a press conference in Infotag he expressed an opinion that owing to a good team of candidates for Municipal Councilors, he has a good chance to win the elections.

“We shall offer to the voters our solutions on all the capital city problems, we turn Chisinau into a cultural capital of the region, Ciurea said.

SLP Leader Oleg Serebrean remarked that the SLP will put forward its candidates for the Mayors’ posts in 583 municipalities that constitutes about 65% of the total number of the municipalities.

“The talks with other political entities on putting forward a joint candidate for the post of the Chisinau Mayor failed. Nevertheless, we are sure that the unification of the liberal forces into a joint party will take place, in all probability, after the local election of June 3”, Serebrean considers.

He said though the SLP and the National Liberal Party (NLP) put forward separate candidates for the post of the Chisinau Mayor, they will make a joint statement on their participation in the election program.

“We considers it necessary that the opposition should set up a council on the monitoring of the election campaign, as many political entities have already said that the Communist Party persecutes their candidates”, Serebrean underlined.

He also proposed to set up a council on the monitoring of the Teleradio-Moldova public company in order to be sure that it would elucidate the election campaign objectively.

MP Igor Clipii was appointed Chairman of the SLP election headquarters.
