EACH THIRD MOLDOVAN IS SKEPTICAL ABOUT FORMATION OF MAJORITY IN NEW PARLIAMENT – VOX POPULI

Almost one-third of Moldova citizens presume that parliamentary parties in the would-be new Parliament will be not able to form a majority, as per the findings of the opinion research Vox Populi, which were presented at Infotag by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova today.

According to the poll, this opinion is shared by 29.8% respondents, 18.9% presume a parliamentary majority will be formed all right, and as many as 51.3% are still unsure.

An assertion that “The new Parliament will form an efficient Government” was supported by 23.4% interviewed citizens, 31.9% disagreed, and 44.7% were uncertain. Also, 39.6% respondents believe that the new Parliament will not be “clean” of corruption and political tourism, and 19.5% think it will.

If an early parliamentary election were held next Sunday, the respondents’ preferences would be as follows:  Maia Sandu’s Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) would receive 31.8%, the voting bloc of Communists and Socialists – 30.3%, and the Sor Party – 5.7%.

All the rest parties and voting blocs would not overcome the 5% election threshold. Namely the Renato Usatii voting bloc would poll only 4.3%, Platforma DA – 3.6%, the Democratic Party – 1.2%. And 20.5% respondents were uncertain or said they would not go to the polls.

The above figures were received from the group of the so-called ‘random respondents’. But in the other group – of the so-called ‘determined voters’ who know whom they will vote for, the findings were as follows:  PAS – 38.5%, the voting bloc of Communists and Socialists – 36.7%, the Sor Party – 6.9%.

The Vox Populi opinion research was carried out on June 10 through 20. It covered 1167 people eligible to vote, residing in 81 various-type localities across the republic, except the Transnistrian region. The pollsters are saying the error should not be in the excess of ±3%.
