MOLDOVAN SCIENTISTS REGARD IT IMPORTANT TO PARTICIPATE IN MONITOX PROJECT ON BLACK SEA

Moldovan researchers regard it to be extremely important to participate in the inter-European MONITOX Project on studying the ecological condition of the rivers flowing into the Black Sea.

Project Coordinator from Moldova Elena Zubkova said at a news conference in Infotag on Tuesday that the Project was launched in 2018 and was financed largely by the European Union.

Zubkova outlined the Project's aim as follows: to strengthen the trans-border regional cooperation for improving the joint monitoring of environment pollution by toxic substances and for a better exchange of analysis methodologies, of data and information on the ecological condition of the environment and on the influence of toxic substances on the human health.

The international researchers examined the Lower Danube, the Danube Delta, the Lower Prut, the Dniester, and the Nestos River in Greece.

The cost of the Project is 952 thousand euros, of which 92% is the European Union's contribution.
