High-ranking Romanian representatives have once again supported the DiscoverEU initiative "Iasi-Chisinau" to promote European values in the region. The director of programs of the Institute of Development and Project Expertise in Chisinau, Iurie Calestru, announced this at press conference at the news agency INFOTAG on Monday.         
     
He noted that meetings were held in the Romanian government, with members of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, as well as consultations with representatives of several other government agencies to promote the initiative.     

"There is their appeal to the European Commission, which formulates arguments about the usefulness of this endeavor.  With the help of the DiscoverEU project, thousands of young people from the two banks of the Prut could be holders of discounted travel tickets on the Iasi-Chisinau route. After all, young people are known to be ambassadors of freedom and European values," Calestru explained.      

He also believes that after the end of the war in Ukraine, the route could start from Odessa and continue to Chisinau and Iasi, uniting tens of thousands of youth from the three countries.
