ENERGY MINISTER: THE PRINCIPLE OF „ENERGY EFFICIENCY COMES FIRST” WILL BE APPLIED IN THE WHOLE MOLDOVAN ECONOMY

22 may, 2024

The principle of „energy efficiency comes first” will be applied in the whole Moldovan economy and the use of renewable energy sources will stimulate economic growth. This was announced by Energy Minister Victor Parlicov at a meeting of the Moldova-EU Association Council in Brussels.

As the ministry's press service told INFOTAG, the minister thanked European partners for their support in the process of synchronization of the national energy system with the continental ENTSO-E, which will allow Moldova to enter the European energy market and attract investments and new opportunities for economic growth.

„Moldova will contribute to strengthening regional energy security, as well as the integration of energy markets, by actively using the North-South gas corridor and the construction of new 400-kV connections with Romania and, consequently, with the EU,” the minister said.

Parlicov participated in a joint discussion on energy security issues in Moldova's Transnistrian region. He stressed the need to maintain stability in Transnistria in the context of the expiration of the contract for the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. The minister assured that the right bank will not hinder the supply of Russian gas to the left bank of the Dniester after the transit contract expires.

„But if the traditional route is blocked, we will have to look for an alternative one, for example, the vertical corridor, which Moldova has recently joined,” Parlicov said.
