DEMAND FOR CURRENCY IN MOLDOVA IN APRIL WAS COVERED BY THE SUPPLY OF INDIVIDUALS BY 88.2%

The net demand of economic agents of Moldova for currency in April was covered by the net supply of it by individuals by 88.2% against 86.6% in March.

As the press service of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) informed INFOTAG agency, this is explained by the fact that the net supply of currency from individuals increased by $23.6 million (11.8%) - to $222.9 million, while the net demand of economic agents - by $22.6 million (9.8%) - to $252.7 million. Under such conditions, the regulator realized $5 million on the interbank market.

In the currency structure of net supply of currency by individuals, the euro still held the first place - 57.2.8% (-10.9 p.p.). The share of the US dollar increased from 23.4% to 33.2%, while the share of the Russian ruble remained at zero.

The total share of other currencies (mainly the UK pound sterling) increased from 8.4% to 9.8% in April.

Following the results of January-April, the net demand of economic agents of Moldova for currency was covered by the net supply of currency by individuals by 90,5%. A year ago, the supply clearly prevailed over the demand, and the level of coverage amounted to 116%.
