22 may, 2024

A man who threw a Molotov cocktail over the fence of the Russian embassy in Chisinau must work 150 hours for the benefit of society, according to a court decision.

At the same time, the court stated that the 54-year-old violator of public order has already spent 50 days in the detention center. In this regard, the punishment is considered fully executed. The defendant was released in the courthouse.

As INFOTAG previously reported, on March 17, while voting in the Russian presidential election at a polling station at the Russian Embassy in Moldova, a man threw two containers with a flammable mixture over the fence of the diplomatic mission. He ran away, but was immediately apprehended by carabinieri who were on duty in the area. During the interrogation, the defendant fully admitted his guilt. The offender explained his actions by disagreement with the policy of Russia and the war in Ukraine.

The verdict can be appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeal within 15 days.
