MOLDOVA IS STRENGTHENING TRADE RELATIONS WITH CHINA – PREMIER LEANCA

14 november, 2013

In the result of a Moldo-Chinese Investment Forum, organized in Chisinau by the Association of Moldovan Business People, the trade relations between Moldova and China will significantly develop, said Prime Minister Iurie Leanca today at the opening of this event.

Speaking at the inauguration of the forum, he said that the political relations between the two states, who are both facing the separatism problem, are very good.

“An impressive dynamics has also been recorded in the economic cooperation, in particular as regards the imports of Chinese goods to Moldova,” said Iurie Leanca.

In his words, the Moldovan market is quite small, but it offers good possibilities for the tax-free exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States and to the European Union, especially after the creation of the free trade area.

“We have a free trade regime with the Commonwealth of Independent States and in the nearest future we will initial the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) with the European Union that will be signed in a year. This way, all the goods produced in Moldova will have the chance to be exported to the East and to the West, under free trade terms,” said Iurie Leanca.

He also invited the Chinese investors to take part in the privatization of the state property, noting that the Moldovan Government is ready to put up for sale some important companies.

“Moldova is interested in the attraction of strategic partners. It is important to have Chinese companies too, among the future potential investors,” the premier said.

“I am sure that today’s forum, as well as the presence of business people from both countries, will allow us developing strong trade relations, in particular as regards the growth of wine exports. We hope that this event will contribute to the attraction of direct Chinese investments into the country,” he said.

According to the cooperation agreement signed on Thursday, China will provide to Moldova a grant of 20 million yuan (about US$3 million) for carrying out some projects that will be identified later.
