GOVERNOR FORMUZAL’S DESTINY TO BE SOLVED AT REFERENDUM – GPA

18 november, 2013

On Friday evening, the deputies of the Gagauzia Popular Assembly failed to enlist two-thirds of ballots necessary to vote no-confidence in Bashkan of Gagauzia Mikhail Formuzal. The idea was supported by only 19 deputies of the 35-member regional legislature.

Last Friday evening, ballot papers for secret voting were prepared all right, but only 20 deputies agreed to enter the polling booth. Six Communists stated from the very beginning that they would not take part in the voting.

Despite the failed attempt to dismiss Formuzal immediately, his opponents keep on claiming that the Bashkan ignores Popular Assembly decisions, spends money from Russian humanitarian assistance not according to its destination, commits other violations of legislation etc.

In his turn, Formuzal keeps on claiming that the accusations are unfounded, politically biased and aimed at manipulating the public opinion.
