DEMOCRATS DEMAND THAT MIKHAIL FORMUZAL STEP DOWN FROM OFFICE…

18 november, 2013

Representatives of the Democratic Party in the Gagauzia Popular Assembly [autonomy’s legislature] demanded that Gagauz Bashkan [Governor] Mikhail Formuzal step down from his post and go out of his work-room.

According to the internet-portal Gagauzinfo, at the end of the meeting of Gagauzia Popular Assembly (GPA) this Friday, when the local deputies considered the expression of the no-confidence vote to the bashkan, a group of legislators, headed by the chairman of the Vulcanesti raion, Democrat Sergey Cernev, went to the third floor of the Executive Committee building.

The public officials were going to demand that Mikhail Formuzal quit his work-room, as the Executive Committee expressed him a vote of no-confidence and appointed the Head of the Autonomy’s Justice Department, Irina Zalenskaia, as acting Governor of the Gagauz Autonomy.

Infotag’s dossier: As many as 24 votes of legislators of the Gagauzia Popular Assembly are needed to discharge the bashkan from his office. Yet, not all the lawmakers are sharing this opinion. For instance, legislator Ivan Burgundji said that “administrative officials in Gagauzia may be dismissed from their posts with the votes of 18 deputies of the Gagauz National Assembly and the bashkan is not an exception in this respect. After debates on the matter, the GPA legislators appointed as acting Governor of Gagauzia, the Head of the Justice Department in the region – Irina Zelenskaia, with the votes of 19 deputies.
