​FIRST TWINNING PROJECT STARTS IN MOLDOVA

The first Twinning Project “Capacity building of the Moldovan Agency for Intervention and Payment in Agriculture (AIPA) for the application of EU norms and standards for the administration of ARD support schemes” has been launched in Moldova. The European Union will allocate 1.2 million euros for its implementation.

The project will be implemented by the AIPA in cooperation with Twinning partners – a consortium formed by AgrarMarkt Austria (AMA) of the Republic of Austria, the State Agriculture Intervention Fund (SZIF) of the Czech Republic and the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARMA) of the Republic of Poland. The project is aimed at developing a system of subsidizing ad strengthening potential in this field in Moldova.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Eduard Grama said at the project presentation that its implementation will contribute to applying more efficient measures in the field of agriculture and rural development of Moldova.

“In order to stimulate this process, we will need financial stimulation of investments from the government and development partners. In this connection, I want to express gratitude and appreciation to development partners, the European Commission and donor countries for the support they provided to our country”, the Minister said.

The Twinning project duration is of 24 months. Two years ago the European Commission and Moldova signed an Agreement on financing the ENPARD [European Neighborhood Program in Agriculture and Rural Development] in Moldova. According to the document, in 2016-2018, Moldova will receive financial and technical assistance worth 64 million euros.
