INFRASTRUCTURE MINISTER: MORE THAN ONE MILLION MOLDOVANS HAVE BENEFITED FROM "SATUL EUROPEAN" PROGRAM

"More than one million Moldovans have become beneficiaries of the "Satul European" (European village) program for two years," the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spinu, announced at a press conference on Monday.

"To date, more than 730 projects out of 900 selected within the "Satul European-2022" and "Satul European Expres-2023" program have been completed. In two years, we have built almost 800 km of water supply systems and 100 km of sewerage systems, 12 treatment plants. We have built about 700 kilometers of street lighting. More than 330 kindergartens, schools, hospitals, sports grounds, cultural centers have been repaired," he listed.

According to him, "everyone agrees that these results are impressive, but this is not enough - this is only the beginning."

Spinu said that 748 project proposals have been submitted for participation in the "Satul European-2024" program - 80% of the mayoralties have proposed their project. Out of the total number of proposals, 42 per cent concern the development of water supply and sewerage, and 21 per cent - the renovation of public buildings. The total value of the 748 projects is estimated at 3.7 billion lei. The process of examining and selecting the submitted proposals will follow.

At the end of March, the government approved the National Program of Local Development of "Satul European" for 2024-2028. The program's implementation costs are estimated at over 5.3 billion lei, of which over 2.5 billion lei will be provided from the state budget through the National Fund for Regional and Local Development.
