21 september, 2017

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis met with Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip on the margin of United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday and said that his country may allocate to Moldova the third tranche of credit to provide real help to the state and its citizens.

According to the Government, Ionahhis congratulated the Moldovan Premier on the fact that in such a difficult period, results were achieved in reform implementation.

“We in Romania can see it very well. I expect and I am sure that you prepared a structured report about reforms, which still continue. Romania can and should help Moldova despite approaches of some politicians. It is important to institutionally help Moldova: to the Moldovan state, its citizens, institutions, which need reforms”, the neighboring country president said.

Pavel Filip thanked Romania for the provided permanent assistance.

“At the beginning of the last year we faced great difficulties, but Romania offered a helping hand to us, providing credits and implementing important reforms, such as repairing of kindergartens, providing of school minibuses, cooperation in the field of energy”, he said.

The sides also exchanged opinions on the Transnistrian problematic and the recent events in the negotiation process. The Moldovan Premier asked the President of Romania to support the inclusion of the issue on removing foreign military forces from the Moldovan territory in the UN General Assembly session agenda.
