NATIONAL BANK CURRENCY RESERVES INCREASED IN MARCH BY 4.68 MLN. USD

The official currency reserve assets of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) increased by 4.68 million dollars in March, exceeding 5.393 billion dollars by early April.

As the press service of the National Bank informed, the increase of reserves in March was mainly due to the profit from management of foreign exchange reserves - 18.04 million dollars; net receipts related to mandatory reserves of licensed banks in foreign currency - 6.18 million dollars; processing of loans in favor of the Ministry of Finance for investment projects - 3.60 million dollars; revaluation of investment portfolio securities - 1.25 million dollars.

At the same time, the reserves were negatively affected by such factors as payments related to servicing of external public debt - 15.92 million dollars; depreciation of exchange rates of currencies, constituting foreign exchange reserves, against the U.S. dollar - 6.00 million dollars; payments of the Ministry of Finance - 3.50 million dollars.

INFOTAG Reference: The record reserves were recorded on December 29, 2023 - over 5.453 billion dollars. At the end of December 2022 they were 4.474 billion dollars, 2021 - 3.901 billion dollars, 2020 - 3.783 billion dollars.
