ANNUAL INFLATION IN MOLDOVA REACHED 3.94% IN MARCH
Annual inflation in Moldova reached 3.94% in March. In the first month of spring, prices in the republic increased on average by 0.46%, and since the beginning of the year, by 1.98%. This is reported by the National Bureau of Statistics.
According to this data, in March, food prices increased on average by 0.51%, non-food products by 0.76%, while services decreased by 0.1%.
Among food products, the prices of fresh fruits increased the most by 4.16%, followed by vegetables at 2.28%. However, according to statisticians, eggs became cheaper by 5.98%, meat and meat products by 0.31%, and sugar by 0.29%.
Among non-food products, prices rose for clothing by 0.77%, medications by 0.66%, and footwear by 0.38%.
Among services, passenger transport and catering became more expensive, while communal services, especially gas and heat supply, became cheaper.
In 2023, inflation in Moldova was 4.2%, including 0.8% in March. The National Bank predicts average annual inflation for 2024 within 4.7%.
