A YOUNG WOMAN AND HER FIVE CHILDREN DIED AS A RESULT OF SUFFOCATION DUE TO A MALFUNCTIONING TV

A young woman and five children died from suffocation by toxic smoke from a malfunctioning television in their home. The incident occurred in the village of Taslyk in the Grigoriopol region on the left bank of the Dniester River. A neighbor became concerned when the 28-year-old woman did not bring her cow to pasture on Saturday morning. He went to her house, where he discovered the bodies of three boys without signs of life. In another room, the man found the bodies of the mother and two girls, who also suffocated from smoke. The children were aged three to eight years old. The preliminary cause of the tragedy was a short circuit. The family fell asleep with the television on. A short circuit occurred, causing the television to smolder. The smoldering fire spread to the furniture and carpets. Additionally, the windows were closed, preventing the inflow of oxygen, which prevented the flames from igniting further.
