​PREGNANT GIRL MISSING IN ORHEI DISTRICT FOUND DEAD

A pregnant girl, Anna-Maria Guja, who went missing in Orhei district on April 12, was found dead. The General Inspectorate of Police announced, thanking employees and volunteers for their help in the search for the young woman.

Every day, hundreds of people were involved in the search, combing the territory of Orhei and neighboring Telenesti district. On April 20, when the dead body was found, more than 900 people were involved in the search.

"The outcome is sad, but we did everything we could. This week we explored every inch of ground, analyzed thousands of video records. We kept searching despite the rain. You can only get results when there are a lot of people. (...) Thank you all. Everyone's contribution was important to us. We express our condolences to the family and relatives", - said in a statement of the Inspectorate General of Police.

The corpse was discovered on Saturday afternoon, 21 kilometers from the village of Chitcanii Vechi, where the alleged perpetrator lived. The body was dumped in a hole near a stream and covered with branches. Law enforcers decided to widen the search area after studying surveillance footage from the suspect's home.

The young woman, who was six months pregnant, was last seen getting into a hitchhiking vehicle on the evening of April 12. Law enforcement officers examined dozens of Ford vehicles, and as a result, they were able to locate the car and driver on April 16. He was arrested for 30 days. The suspect does not admit guilt and refuses to cooperate with the investigation.
